The wedge-shaped rockets exploded with power, the right a tad harder than the left, banking the Pod in which Anakin sat sharply left to clear the turn. Swiftly, he adjusted the steering to straighten the racer, boosted power further, and shot through the arch. Loose sand whiplashed in the wake of his passing, filling the air with a gritty sheen, whirling and dancing through the heat.

The second look confirmed everything she’d seen in the first.

“All is well,” she said, out loud this time, announcing it to her bridge crew. “Time for my rounds. Lieutenant Bowman, you have the bridge.”

“Acknowledged, Captain,” her first officer replied, standing from his own seat in preparation to occupy hers until she returned from her evening constitutional.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use these Star Wars trivia questions for?

Most of the time, such trivia questions can be used as an ice breaker game or during longer office breaks. In general, you should feel free to use the Star Wars trivia questions for any kind of informal office event.

Trivia games also make for a great team-building activity. Regardless of whether you’re hosting a virtual team-building activity or an in-person one, you can incorporate these trivia questions quite easily.

With that said, we encourage employers to use the Star Wars trivia questions in other contexts, too. More specifically, you can include the Star Wars trivia questions as a warming-up activity before an escape room game or a murder mystery party.

There’s a catch to it, though - you do need to ensure the escape game or the murder mystery event are somehow Star Wars-related so it can all make sense.

We provide some specific ideas below.

A) A Star Wars-themed escape room

If hosting a Star Wars-themed escape room sounds like something you and your employees will find enjoyable, check out the virtual escape room Star Wars Jedi Game. As they’ve written on their website, they urge you to “unleash your inner Jedi and escape the clone troopers with this fun virtual experience”!

For this game, you need to set one hour aside and pay $35. The recommended number of players is between 1 and 10.

You and the “team of Jedis” are on the run, trying to survive and escape the pursuing clone troopers. If you answer a puzzle incorrectly, the clone troopers can capture a person from your team.

Moreover, you’re required to solve puzzles by Master Yoda, find the lost lightsaber, and unlock secretive galactic paths. The game tests the players’ teamwork skills, perseverance, patience, and, of course, Star Wars knowledge.

B) A Star Wars-themed murder mystery party

Apart from organizing an escape room experience for your workers, you may want to consider hosting a murder mystery event, too. And we have the perfect suggestion for you - the Star Wars Strangulation murder mystery game.

The context is as follows: you and your employees are required to join the Imperial Navy Academy on the Death Star. However, some recruits decided to escape in order to join the rebellion. The murder mystery story follows these recruits and the winner gets to meet Emperor Palpatine. But here’s the thing: he’s difficult to impress.

The game can be played both in-person and virtually. For instance, if you opt for an online version, there’s an option which includes 2 to 15 players, and another one with 2 to 60 players. It all depends on your team’s size.

All in all, both the escape room and the murder mystery game are great team-building options for your Star Wars employees, so whichever one you choose, you can’t go wrong.

How can I host a Star Wars trivia event?

Hosting a Star Wars trivia event is certainly an enjoyable experience, but it does require some preparation.

Step 1: Pick the Star Wars trivia questions

Many employers leave this as the last step, but picking the questions first can make all the difference in some decisions you might make later on. For instance, what if you initially organize a short event, schedule the time, and let everyone know, only to choose a lot of questions and run out of time during the actual trivia event?

Or, let’s say you decide to include quite a few questions from the Princess Leia section, you might have someone from the HR team masked in Princess Leia and make the event much more amusing. Or if you include trivia questions that focus on the movies, you might want to find some movie scenes and screen them during the event.

With that said, do make sure to include versatile questions instead of focusing on a single category (or two), so that there's something for everyone.

Step 2: State the trivia game’s rules well in advance.

Every game comes with rules, and the same applies to trivia games. And these rules can be anything - from how long your trivia event should last and how many teams are allowed, all the way to the maximum number of rounds and what the trivia guests are (not) supposed to do during the game.

You might discuss these rules and game guidelines well before the event takes place, or you could share them right before you start playing.

Step 3: Create teams.

Trivia events are all about teamwork and collaboration, so try to create equal teams. And by equal teams, we’re not just referring to teams with an equal number of players - we also want to encourage you to consider creating teams with more or less equal Star Wars knowledge. For example, it’d make no sense for a team of players who are the biggest Star Wars fans in the office to play against newbie fans. Balance is key and it will help make the whole event much more transparent and fair.

Step 4: Plan for the uncertain.

If something goes wrong during your trivia night (like equipment malfunction, a player leaving the game due to an emergency, etc.), it’s important to know how to improvise and adjust to the situation accordingly. Let’s say you planned to use a projector, but suddenly it doesn’t seem to work. You need to come up with another solution right away - you could read the questions out loud, or send the questions to each team so they can read them on their phones, and so on.

Step 5: Double-check everything.

Check whether:

  • you’ve informed everyone about the time and the location.

  • you’ve prepared all the necessary materials (if you’re printing questions see if you have enough answer sheets, pencils, pens, and other necessary supplies).

  • you’ve devised all the rules necessary to host such a trivia event.

• your technology and equipment work (this especially goes for screen-sharing options on digital platforms and if certain files read nicely when shared with others), and so on.

Feel free to expand on the list.

Step 6: Have fun!

Finally, don’t forget to have fun and enjoy yourself. After all, that’s one of the main reasons you’re hosting a Star Wars trivia event, right?

And last but not least, don’t forget to keep score! Getting carried away during trivia games can happen easily, so don’t forget to keep the right score at all times. You might even assign someone from your HR team to do it, if you think you need to pay attention to a lot of things during the actual trivia event.

What if some of my employees aren’t fans of the Star Wars franchise?

Let’s face it - regardless of what trivia game you host, some employees won’t like the theme as much as others, in this case, either due to disliking the Star Wars franchise or not being so familiar with it.

Here are some tips to help you respond to such situations professionally.

Tip. 1: Don’t be judgmental.

The important thing here is not to impose your views onto your employees or make them feel uncomfortable because they dislike something the rest of the people in the office are fond of. Remember, each person is allowed to have their own preferences, and this also applies to random matters such as Star Wars trivia games.

With that said, don’t allow everyone’s preferences and personal wishes/opinions to create division among them. Each employer should strive to improve the employee engagement levels in the office, not “destroy” them.

Tip 2: Become more aware of your employees’ true preferences.

We’ve said it many times, and we’ll say it again - learning what your employees dislike gives you the opportunity to learn what they truly like.

For instance, if they aren’t fond of the Star Wars franchise, what franchise do they enjoy? Perhaps the Marvel franchise? Or maybe they’d like to engage in more general trivia games such as sports trivia events, geography trivia, or music-related trivia games?

Getting insights into such matters helps you not only understand your workers on a much deeper level, but also plan future trivia games or other team-building activities.

Tip. 3: Don’t make rushed assumptions.

Just because some of your workers don’t like the Star Wars franchise doesn’t mean they won’t like to hang out with their peers and engage in such a trivia event.

After all, this could prove to be a very valuable experience for them - a chance to expand their knowledge, learn something new, or even simply observe the game.

And while we clearly expressed the importance of having trivia rules and planning things in advance (take a look at the second question to jog your memory), sometimes it’s important not to get fixated on how an event is supposed to go, and whether all attendees will participate in it in a way you’ve envisioned.
